چکیده
A 53-year-old man with end-stage kidney disease on haemodialysis thrice weekly for 32 years due to purpura nephritis presented with exertional dyspnoea and fever. Chest radiograph revealed nodular shadows in the periphery of lung areas, especially bilateral upper lung areas (Figure 1), and computed tomography of the chest revealed high dense foci of a ground-glass appearance in bilateral upper lung areas (Figure 2A). At first, he was suspected to have infectious pneumonitis, because of opportunistic condition due to long-lasting steroid use and immunosuppressive therapy for recurrent episodes of purpura. However, the symmetrical and upper lung distribution of the lesions

Metastatic Calcification
A patient with metastatic calcification is presented and the contributions of plain film, computed tomography, and bone scintigraphy in the diagnosis are discussed. The patient had a long history of end-stage renal failure, and was previously receiving peritoneal dialysis and calcium supplements. His serum calcium level had been persistently elevated for several years without correction. Recent...
متن کاملAortic calcification in haemodialysis patients with diabetes mellitus.
BACKGROUND Certain metabolic disorders, such as hyperphosphatemia induce vascular calcification in haemodialysis patients; it is unclear, however, whether these disorders contribute to aortic calcification in diabetic haemodialysis patients. This study examined the risk factors of aortic calcification in a large number of haemodialysis patients, and compared risk factors between diabetic and no...
متن کاملEvidence of unilateral metastatic pulmonary calcification with a prolonged Fever and arthralgia caused by acute lymphoblastic leukemia in a chronic dialysis patient.
A 55-year-old man was transferred to our hospital with unilateral lung lesions, a persistent fever and vague chest pain with arthralgia lasting for three months. He had been treated for end-stage renal disease with hemodialysis for 15 years and had a medical history of recurrent subcutaneous calciphylaxis due to secondary hyperparathyroidism. Transbronchial biopsied specimens demonstrated metas...
متن کاملImprovement of cardiac function after kidney transplantation with dilated cardiomyopathy and long dialysis vintage
Patients with long dialysis vintage have low cardiac output for various reasons. Although kidney transplantation is known to improve cardiac mortality, patients are sometimes evaluated as contraindicated for transplantation because of cardiac risk. We successfully performed kidney transplantation for a patient with a long dialysis vintage and dilated cardiomyopathy. Sequential (123)I-metaiodobe...
متن کاملPulmonary Metastatic Choriocarcinoma in a Patient with Ectopic Pregnancy
Gestational trophoblastic tumor (GTT) most commonly follows a molar pregnancy. In fact, it can occur following gestational events such as induced or spontaneous abortion, ectopic pregnancy, and term pregnancy. In this study, we present the case of a patient with ectopic pregnancy who was treated with a single dose of methotrexate (MTX). The maximum titer of beta subunit of human chorionic gonad...
